Privacy Policy

What this site collects

CakeDecoratingCalc has no accounts, no logins and no comment system. There is nothing to sign up for in order to read anything here, and the calculators run entirely in your browser: the numbers you type into them are never sent anywhere and never stored.

Two things are collected, and only two.

• Aggregate analytics. Google Analytics records that a page was viewed and that an outbound product link was clicked, along with the usual technical information a browser sends: approximate region, device type, browser, and the page you arrived from. It is used to see which pages are worth improving. We cannot see who you are from it.
• An email address, only if you give us one. The contact and partner forms and the shopping-list signup each ask for one. Nothing else is required and nothing is taken without being typed into a form you chose to submit.

What this site does not do

We do not sell or rent email addresses or any other information. We do not run advertising networks or retargeting pixels. We do not build profiles of individual readers, and we have no way to connect an analytics session to a person.

Third parties

• Google Analytics provides the aggregate measurement described above and sets cookies to do it. You can opt out entirely with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on, and this site works exactly the same with it installed.
• Amazon. Product links carry a tracking tag so Amazon knows the visit came from here. Once you follow one, you are on Amazon and their privacy policy applies. We can see that a link was clicked; we cannot see what you browsed or bought afterwards, only anonymous aggregate totals.
• Google Forms receives shopping-list signups, and FormSubmit delivers contact and partner messages by email. Each holds what you typed into the form you used.
• Google Fonts serves the typefaces this site uses, which means your browser requests them from Google when a page loads.

Cookies

The only cookies this site sets are the Google Analytics ones described above. There are no advertising cookies and no cross-site trackers. Blocking cookies in your browser does not break anything here; the calculators, charts and pages all work normally.

Email

If you give us an email address for the shopping list, it is used to send you that list and occasional notes about new charts and calculators. Every message carries an unsubscribe link and unsubscribing is immediate and permanent. If you email us through the contact form, that address is used to reply to you and is not added to any list.

Children

This site is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has submitted an email address here, tell us and it will be deleted.

Your rights

You can ask what we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for it to be deleted, and we will do it. Depending on where you live you may have those rights under the GDPR, the CCPA or similar law, and we apply them to everybody regardless of where you are. Write to us through the contact page.

Changes

If this policy changes, the updated version appears here with a new date at the top of the page. How the site is funded is described separately on the affiliate disclosure page.
